for the past week reading my new favorite book series. We had a great time at the canyon. It was a super long drive, longer than we thought but still a great time. We left our hotel at about eight on Sun. and started the two hour drive to the canyon. What I guess I didn't pay attention to was the fact that last twenty one miles to the canyon would be combed over dirt road, not paved. That probably took us the longest. The rented tours were zipping by us like nothing but since we had our own car we took it slow. The first stop on the tour was Eagle Canyon and is you look at the rock I am sure you see why. It looks as if an eagle has spread it's wings. Sorry if it is hard to see, that was as close as I could get to the edge(that they would let me) and I was standing on my tippy's. I LOVED the sky walk, Ashley and Neil not so much. When you walked out the center of the bridge is clear hence the snazzy covers we are wearing on our feet. It was breath taking. Ashley and Neil just lost their breath completely. Neil did better once the kids were off but I could have stayed there all day. I was looking through the glass to see if I could find Cindy and Bobby Brady, but since I forgot my flashlight full of beans there was no sense (anyone?). After the bridge we went to another another part of the canyon called Guano. If anyone doesn't know what that is, it is the name for bat droppings.....we did not eat at the Guano cafe! That is where I got the pic of the Colorado river. Also just as breath taking. On the ride back to the hotel we stopped at the Hoover Dam. We really thought our faces were going to melt off it was so hot. The sun was about as strong as Guam but the heat was stifling. Took some pics got right back in the car. After a short rest and cooling at our hotel we went to Circus Circus which I like to call Zoo Zoo. We cleaned them out of tickets or they cleaned us out of money how ever you want to look at it. The kids had a blast and I have to admit we did too. Came home with a lot of stuffed animals (grr) and some great pics. To bad Neil and I don't really gamble, we would have made some money....maybe.
