The first earthquake I ever felt in my life was about three days after we arrived on Guam. Being on the fourteenth floor of the Marriott is not a fun place to be. We were totally freaked out where no one else seemed to mind. I could not believe how calm everyone was. The exact words they used were " ah that wasn't a bad one, nothing broke". Well soon I too was under the delusion that the ground shaking was no big deal. We had a few more after that and then had the big one in Hawaii. Guys were running out of the barracks because they had never felt one, we were mad we had to leave. SO what if the building was swaying back and forth. Nothing broke.
We have been in San Diego for six months now and just had an earthquake. I am going back to my original statement that the ground moving is not OK, whether things get broken or not. It wasn't a bad one, started small and got harder lasting only a few seconds but I HATE THEM!!!!!!!! It did knock out my phone for about an hour. Poor Phoebe who has been taught to get under something went under the glass table ( we're working on that). She joined us under the door jam and was shaking so bad it was so cute and sad at the same time. Next time we move, earthquake free zone. Oh and nothing broke :p
